In a national panel with two U.S. Senators, four youth of color nationwide spoke about their local efforts to get police removed from schools. The areas represented were Chicago, New York City, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Salem, Oregon. Alex Sosa Navarro, Latinos Unidos Siempre, spoke about the efforts in Salem, Oregon. U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (CT) and Ayanna Pressley (MA) support federal legislation to prohibit federal dollars from being used for police in schools. They would appropriate funds for counselors and other student support services.
