Salem's Drinking Water More Resilient w/ Ozone and Increased Capacity
Show Notes
Brian Martin, Salem's Chief Engineer, recaps the algae bloom event in 2018, how the city responded to the event and how it found a long term solution for a more resilient drinking water supply. Martin talks about the new ozone treatment system (coming online Sept. 2021) to manage a variety of toxins that may challenge drinking water in the future, in part, due to a warming planet. The city is also creating more capacity with new ground water wells.
