Oregon Faces Redistricting Process
Show Notes
People move in and out of Oregon all the time, and move from one place or town to another, within the state. Cities grow, demographic patterns change -- and after the next census, it will be time to reflect that change, by re-drawing the boundaries of voting districts in the state. Can it be done fairly? The Oregon League of Women Voters got a grant to put together a review of the process, showing how voters can be fairly represented -- or gerrymandered out of their share of representation, depending on how well the job is done. The League’s presentation, recorded at the Salem Library’s Loucks Auditorium, is the subject of this week’s Forum program on KMUZ.
