Who was this dapper Salem gentleman who was appointed to the U.S. Senate from Oregon in 1917 — the subject of our show this week? He was also the only Oregonian ever to run for Vice-President of the United States, on the Republican ticket in 1940. There is a high school in Keizer named for him, and for good reason.
