The British Empire at one time included a quarter of all people in the known world, but the world changed. When some of the residents chose to come “home” from their own countries to Great Britain, they did not get a warm welcome. This year’s Frost Lecture at Willamette University’s history department featured Reed College professor Radhika Natarajan, on the the racist backlash migration sparked, and how they found ways to handle the new citizens in the United Kingdom.
